Saxophone, Flute & Credebility

David Ladd

David Ladd is one of the best musicians you have ever heard. Really. He plays Sax and Flute with passion, grace & fire. Yes, I know Al DiMeola and John McLaughlin have used that name, but that's the level I'm talking about. Really. He has shared the stage with Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, CCR, Santana, Chicago, Tower of Power, Pablo Cruise, Sly and the Family Stone, Pete Escovedo, Cream, Benny Goodman, Dave Brubeck, Chuck Mangione, Modern Jazz Quartet, Grover Washington, Jr., The Jazz Crusaders, Yellowjackets, Hubert Laws, Ray Charles, Hiroshima, Maynard Ferguson, Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour, to name a few... How's that?

For the past 15 years, David has been one of the Bay Area’s premiere music educators. He was the San Jose Unified School District Teacher-of–the–Year in 1990. It was the first and only time this honor was given to a music teacher. David is the Music and Camp Director for the San Jose Jazz Society’s Summer Jazz Camp “Jazz Goes to College”. He teaches at Buchser Middle School in Santa Clara, where his concert and jazz band continuously receive the highest honors at contests and festivals. I have no idea why David plays with us. Really. He always claims to have a lot of fun...maybe he just enjoys slumming. Maybe Chubby has some really good dirt on him while working with him ath KEZR in the '90s and blackmails him into playing with us. What ever it is, I don't care. If there is a finer musician in San Jose, I've not met him and wouldn't believe you if you said there was.
